Weekend Recap & "Max" Diet: Day One

I have this bra is several different colors. I love this color combo! It's not my favorite bra in terms of comfort, but it's cute and very supportive. Target, $16.99!

Saturday: No workout, but I spent the day at the OC Fairgrounds supporting and cheering on my fellow CFCM athletes who competed in the Next Level Invitational. Linds did awesome as expected and ended up placing 2nd in the Intermediate Women's class. She always inspires me and makes me want to push myself harder. She's a big part of the reason I've been motivated to start competing. I was also very proud of the other 3 CFCM girls who competed. Bobbie is always fun to watch and both Katie and Kate competed for the first time and they all did awesome!

At the end of the day Chris and I had to meet a few customers at the Functional Equipment warehouse so while we were waiting for them to arrive I practiced my backwards double unders. Chris filmed me getting 3 (see video below). Tonight at the gym during warm-up I was able to string 13 together! It's a fun party trick. I don't know too many people who can do backwards double unders, let alone several in a row. It's a silly little thing, but something to be proud of, I guess.

Sunday: Again, no workout and I had kind of a "blah" day. Luckily it ended with a nice dinner out with the Hanson's and I woke up this morning feeling good again.

Today's Workout (4pm Group Class):

Front Squat
5 @ 73#, 5 @ 87#, and 4x5 @ 97#
“Nerak” For time: 75 Med Ball Clean + Wall Ball

My score= 6:15 I was very surprised and happy with my time. When I saw the workout on the board I was not excited. I hate wallballs and I'm not a huge fan of med ball cleans either so I figured this was going to be an awful workout. There was a 15 minute time cap on the workout and I saw times on the board from earlier in the day from 3-13 minutes. My goal was to finish sub 10.

Today was the first day on my new "Max" diet. This is what I ate:

9:30: Breakfast- 2 scrambled eggs with 1 wedge laughing cow cheese, 9 almonds, 5 fish oil and 2 fiber tabs
1:30: Lunch- salad with 2.5 cups romaine lettuce, 3 oz. taco seasoned ground turkey, 1/4 cup of black beans, 1/4 cup of salsa, and 1 Tbsp. avocado
3:00 Iced Americano, black
5:30 Post workout protein shake
8:00 Dinner- 3 oz. chicken breast sauteed with 1/2 cup onions, 1/2 cup mushrooms and 1 cup green beans (1 tsp. butter & a splash of chicken stock)

I slept in today so my times are a little off from what they should be. I should be eating one additional meal a day. I'll do better tomorrow. I think on days when I wake up later, I'll eat more at breakfast to make up for the additional meal lost at the end of the day. I felt plenty full today. I was not hungry nor did I crave anything bad. The first day of a new eating plan is always easy though, we'll see how the next 29 days go.

  3. Yep, this isn't a strict paleo diet, it's more about reducing my calories and balancing macronutrients (zoning to a degree). Legumes are allowed as well as minimal dairy. I've always taken 5-10 fish oil a day (for the last few years). Thanks for reading my blog, ladies!
